The series Home was inspired when I began to recognise places I was familiar with on the ground and then later how they appeared from the air while flying over Melbourne's suburbs.
A varied metropolis ranging from both busy and quiet environments is a true representation of this place. I wanted to pay respect to my hometown and share some hidden secrets or places that otherwise wouldn't be visible from the ground.
It's not often I get the privilege to fly so low over built up areas, but when there is a request for the pilot to change course, it's in your best interest to obey the rules for your own safety. Given the opportunity I got an extremely detailed view of the urban environment streaking below my feet. It doesn't give you much time to take in what you're seeing when you're looking through the camera viewfinder so when you capture something crisp and sharp you learn to not take moments like this for granted.
